Amateur comedian
Amateur movie reviewers annoy me. What's the point? Why do they do it?
And a lot of the time you get some real idiots writing these reviews too. I read a review some time back that ended like this: "If you have nothing better to do, watching this movie wouldn't be a bad idea. But if you do have something better to do, well, not watching this movie wouldn't kill you either."
Thanks, sweetheart. That's very valuable advice. It's especially valuable because not only can I use it for this movie, I CAN USE THE SAME PIECE OF ADVICE FOR EVERY MOVIE EVER MADE!

(Editor's Note: Smart-ass comments about amateur comedians will not be entertained.)

Do you sometimes re-read your old posts/comments on LJ (or a comment you made the previous day) just to appreciate how smart/clever you were while making them? To relive the moment, you know?
Probably not. You people actually have lives.

People who say "Indeed!": What's wrong with them? Can they be fixed?

If a tree falls down in a forest and there's no-one around to see it, does it make a scene?

I guess not. There wouldn't be any point.

Maybe they're like kids that way.

Astrological advice for today:
If you have nothing better to do, jerking off wouldn't be a bad idea. But if you do have something better to do, well, not jerking off wouldn't kill you either.

what about people who say "absolutely". its my new catch-phrase. though its not a phrase, more like a word.
and by 'fixed', do you mean neutered? "i got my lab fixed. he was humping every leg in sight. not to mention the imaginary ones."

"Indeed" is different. It was only when I got online that I knew that there are those who still use the word.
"Absolutely", OTOH, is still used. So it's alright. Unless of course you keep repeating it every fifteen minutes. Then I'd have to kill you.

and by 'fixed', do you mean neutered?

Yeah yeah, it bothered me that there's that other meaning :D But I can't think of another word.

what exactly would a professional movie reviewer be? one who gets paid? one who went to film school?

then again..gee, i hope i didn't write the line that you quoted (being presumptuous, but well..)

Damn it! I knew someone would ask me that!! :D Someone who reviews movies on their own blog I think of as amateur I guess. But yeah, you're right. But still I'm sticking with "amateur movie reviewers" because I don't want to use more words and make that paragraph any bigger :D
I really don't read "professional" movie reviews too. Not unless there's something in the movie I don't understand and am looking for hints/clues.

then again..gee, i hope i didn't write the line that you quoted (being presumptuous, but well..)

I don't really know you. It's someone else. And I shifted words around for effect and also so no one can google it :D

I hate movie reviews and people that count on them. To me, its all about like and/or dislike.

I re-read a lot of my comments and felt real smart when I was in Sweden. Now, I seem to have gotten a life as you suggest.

Indeed, whats wrong with them ;), perhaps they got it after they were fixed!. I use it quite frequently.

If a tree falls down in a forest and there's no-one around to see it, does it make a scene?, someone could get to see it later, or its effect might be felt in the vicinity, or its crashing sound could be heard by hunters or (many other weird possibilities), it would make a scene then.

For me, it's more fine-grained than that. I depend on the four/five star system.

Hahaha! What a loser! :P

"Professional" movie reviewers :D
It's de facto standard.

Finding Nemo for example has an average rating of 4.3 according to Google

I used to depend on http://rottentomatoes.com, which does the same thing Google is doing - aggregation of ratings, but then they blocked the site at work.

Zinda is ripped off from Oldboy.

I'm so happy that the producers of Oldboy have decided that they're going to watch Zinda and then sue.

This should have happened when some fucktard in Bollywood copied Reservoir Dogs.

P.S: I get pissed off only when good movies are copied :D

Zindaa was fucked up man. 1/2 into the movie and I _knew_ it was a rip-off from some nice movie with the bollywood 'sweetness' added in.

I saw Oldboy today. It's...er....okay. Not as good as I expected it to be. Over-rated.

Note to self: imdb rankings are not to be taken seriously.

I do write a about almost every film I watch, but I don't know whether it falls in the category you mention. I don't give a "Go see it" or "Its a waste" kind of advices too. Frankly I don't even know or care if someone reads them. Still I write them..
I do re-read my posts and it kind-a gives me a satisfaction, and I enjoy doing that. It feels so good reading your posts that are 2-3 yrs old, brings back some good memories.

Sorry I just can't help it. I am going to pour the entire history.
I started developing a web site for our PEC 1997-2001 computer science batch in 2001 (http://skorg.iwebland.com and http://www.geocities.com/softklick). Then I contested in the web site contest at neopages.net and won a free PHP/MySQL hosting with 100 MB and had www.skorg.neopages.net for a long time. But then the founder of neopages could not manage it and he started tabulas in which he gave free accounts for all who had won at neopages and that is how I came to be nested at http://www.tabulas.com/~simonkayar (personal) and http://www.tabulas.com/~pec (for classmates).

Was it a web-site design contest? Or did you have to build a complete web-site? What language did you use? PHP?
