Life Hack #3 Part 1 (Kids Edition)
(This is for Indian School Kids)
This is for when you are in your classroom, it is your classmate's birthday and zhe is distributing sweets bench-by-bench.
You definitely wouldn't mind a toffee. But then, you don't really care a lot. It's just a toffee.
Problem is: nobody else knows that you don't care. And you definitely do care that they don't get the wrong impression.
This problem, unfortunately, gets way out of proportion. Where do you look while Birthday Kid in his/her colour-dress is moving with sweets bench-by-bench approaching you?
1) First of all, do not panic. Remember: You aren't the only one with this problem.
2) The ideal case is when you manage to convince everyone around you that you've actually forgotten that someone is approaching your bench with a box of sweets.
For this to work, you need to look elsewhere with great concentration and then do a double-take "realising" that you have to pick a toffee.
The double-take is difficult to pull off on the field and it's always better to practise at home.
Start by looking straight ahead. Then turn your head towards the right, but not too quickly. Don't linger in this position. Quarter of a second turned towards the right is optimum. Now turn your head back in the direction you came from about forty five degrees, then with a look of realisation on your face turn back forty five degrees. You are now looking towards your right. Smile.
Repeat exercise for the left.
If you have the confidence to pull this off, go for it.
3) If you have been practising the double-take for more than a week and still aren't good at it, I would recommend the Rooting For Your Pencil Box In Your Bag trick.
This has two variations:
1) You search for your pencil-box with your bag on your lap.
Pros: Those around you are less likely to doubt your motives. Useful if your desk doesn't have a lot of space underneath.
2) You search for your pencil-box in your bag that is under the desk.
Pros: Your face is hidden the whole time. There's less acting involved.
And you have to remember to leave your pencil-box _in_ your bag before-hand.
