[info]subtle_blues reminded me about a certain type of human being.

Moron: If women dressed more conservatively, there would be fewer rapes.

You: If there were no women, there would be fewer rapes.

(Moron: That's brilliant. Why didn't I think of that before?)

Here are a few alternate brilliant observations:

If there were no men, there would be fewer rapes.

If men stayed indoors, there would be fewer rapes.

If women agreed to have sex with every man who asks for it, there would be fewer rapes.

PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, LET'S REDUCE THE NUMBER OF RAPES!!

Rape would reach a new high, because manhood (biologically speaking) and manhood (psychologically speaking) are worlds apart.

Men would rape just to prove their manhood.

Castration never stopped a man from achieving an erection.

Castraton of ALL males would consequently increase the number of rapes to gigantic proportions, but would reduce the number of
pregnancies to nil.

As a violent mass reaction to a policy of universal castration- yes. Rape on a large scale has always been a form of dominance assertion. What do you think will happened when someone decides to threaten a core part of male "identity"[[I forget the term you coined for group identity]?
In fact, the reaction to such a policy will be mass rapes and mass murder of women *before* the actual castrations. Of course, I do realise [info]vandyvandana was just adding to your entertaining collection of logical fallacies. Still, the topic seemed too interested to not hold forth about.:)

Very interesting dicussion! I don't think that castration would lead to rapes number decreasing. I think that in any case would be found the way to emotional and phisiological contact between sexes that would include rape.

I think you are implying the pejorative use of 'Hijra' when you say hermaphrodite in the way you used it.

From Wiki: "In zoology, a hermaphrodite is an organism of a species whose members possess both male and female sexual organs during their lives."

My assumption was that people would be able to get all the sex they wanted if they were hermaphrodite and able to reproduce all by themselves (like earthworms).

First, hi!

To raghunath & others: There are rapes within gay/ lesbian circles too. In India, since rape is very specifically defined, non-vaginal rapes, rape within a marriage etc do not get punished under rape. This is one of the reasons why a fuller review of rape, sodomy & child abuse laws is really called for...

Any non-consensual sexual activity should be construed as rape...

Yes, they are all friend's only...I started the journal like that when it mostly entirely dedicated to my sex life...now it really includes all aspects of my life, but out of habit it is still friends only.

I got a few other comments here saying the same thing, and I guess you people are right. I always thought rapes happen when a person gets too horny. But now that I think about it, the very fact that the person being raped is suffering should be enough to make the rapist lose his/her drive if it's just about the sex.

P.S: I'm getting quite a few anonymous comments lately. How did you find me?

You're an idiot. Why do women dress immodestly? It is to be sexually attractive. There is no other way to look at it. All your analogies are BS because, to put it simply, they have nothing to do with this fact - which is central to issues like harassment..etc. If you put a naked blonde in the street she is going to be harassed whether you like it or not. Of course, if men went blind or the world ended she can be spared of this, but the whole point is that she wants to be "wanted". Unfortunately these "wants" do get out of hand because they are a balance of human instinct and restraint, so why should we blame human instinct when it wins?

The purpose of seductive clothes is seduction. The purpose of men going out, having balls, existing..etc (your brilliant remarks) is not so, and these activities are thus irrelevant. Please try not to be so blatantly moronic in the future.
