International Audience

My Interests Collage Generator made me about sixty new friends and doubled my friends-list. Yes! I have LOTS of lj-friends. So if you see a subtle change in the content of my posts, it's only because I'm catering to an international audience now.

So Tom Cruise. What a kook, huh? And Paramount has cut all ties with him. He deserves it too. Those who haven't read up on scientology, you have to. It's hilarious. How could anyone believe in something as dumb as that? As opposed to say a religion like Christianity. Where God sends his only son to be born of a virgin and to suffer for all our sins including the big one when the first woman was tempted by a snake to eat from the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden.
(No, really, check it out. It's hilarious -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity)

And btw, these PETA activists are a bunch of assholes and fuckheads. Don't they know that animals don't actually feel any pain? Animals only ACT like they feel pain. Because that's the way God made them! Also, meat is very tasty.

Five years ago, September 11, 2001. A day of horrific tragedy. A day of deep sorrow.
It was on this day that 24,000 people died of hunger. Like the day before that day. And the day after. And yesterday.

If you do not approve of this post or if you think it's a piece of shit, it's because you're anti-[info]ga_woo.
You're either with me or you're against me.

Oh, definitely with you. I mean, what are my other options? You haven't suggested terrorists, so maybe being against you means being with the US government, which would never do.

Also, if I had any ties with Tom Cruise I'd've cut them long ago! Why'd it take them so long, anyway?

I'm with you.

Organized religion is just insanity by consensus. I take a lot of objection to the answers the Church peddles. Answers to question no one could ever answer.

What happens after we die? "You go to heaven."
Prove it.

[info]ga_woo

September 11 2006, 23:26:55 UTC 5 years ago

People with true faith don't need proof. In fact, if there is proof, it means one wouldn't need faith anymore and those who don't have faith cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. So see? It's all for your own good.

Right on

I'm with ya dude. In class my professor brought up what today was and I thought to myself," by remembering what happened and bringing it up as something terrible that happened is actually making the terrorists win in a sense." Isn't that what they wanted? To instill fear upon us and gain control?

As for the 240,000 people dying of hunger on this very same day well, I think I should make a button out of that but then again that may offend people who knew someone that died in 9/11 though there is someone out there who knows someone that died of hunger too it's just less heard of. Decisions decisions.

Religion: Tom Cruise is indeed one crazy mofo. So is the Pope, the President, *insert super relgious Jew here* *insert super religious muslim* * insert super religious hindu* etc and anyone out there that believes in such nonsense. Religion is an absurd way of answering questions that no one can answer.

PETA: Don't get me started! They were at the corner of my street not too long ago protesting. Oy!

Re: Right on

Isn't that what they wanted? To instill fear upon us and gain control?

What they want is more specific than that I think. Something to do with the American Government's support for Israel, military bases in the middle east. Of course, you aren't going to hear about any of this in the news. They hate our freedom, yes, that must be it. Of course.

As for the 240,000 people dying of hunger on this very same day well, I think I should make a button out of that but then again that may offend people who knew someone that died in 9/11 though there is someone out there who knows someone that died of hunger too it's just less heard of. Please check update to post. It's actually 24,000 :D Point still stands though 24,000 >>> 3000

PETA: Don't get me started! They were at the corner of my street not too long ago protesting. Oy!

Well, if I'm with you, am I with the terrorists? Because that is something that I will not stand, as an upstanding American citizen. For you to even insinuate that I might be part of a terrorist cell offends me, sir, as I am a Patriot! I support our men at arms in other countries who are nominally destroying the Terrorists and capturing oil fields, and, of course, I support any budget increases, necessary or unnecessary, to support them. My president tells me that if I don't support his budget, I'm evil. And I'm not evil. I'm also not a Terrorist. I mean, I don't get stopped in airports or get backup called on me when I'm pulled over for speeding or running a stop sign or having a broken turn signal. I don't look like a Terrorist at all. I mean, I don't wear a turban or anything. It's Evil to wear a turban, because that means you're a Terrorist. My president has created a whole branch of the government called the Homeland Security something or another simply to weed out those of us that are Terrorists hiding behind the face of an American. I feel much more secure knowing there's a Homeland Security something out there; I mean, Security is in the name, right? And when they change the color, I know they're really looking out for me, the one who is not a Terrorist cell. I know Big Brother is looking out for me, and I know Fox News is, too, especially when their stock goes up. Of course, every time they change their story, it's just because new information has come to light. And I am an Informed Consumer.

So, ga_woo, I am definitely not with a Terrorist organization such as PETA or Tom Cruise, and after writing this response, I will report PETA's Terrorist activity to the Homeland Security's hotline.

does this mean we won't see any more posts about how you went to a hyderabadi pub in shorts?

Of course not. I estimate the following breakdown of topics:

Tom Cruise and what an idiot he is: 40%
9/11 and the tragic death of 3000 people: 40%
Lindsay Lohan/Jessica Simpson/Britney Spears/Hilary Duff: 10%
Miscellaneous: 10%

in other news: "Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have yet to show their baby daughter off in public, but eager fans were given an unusual preview with the chance to see a bronze cast depicting her (baby's) first solid stool."

I never thought I'd live to see a gold-plated turd :( Thank you.

Did you try using Flickr? I mean, they are Yahoo! too, but they would usually handle high volumes of traffic, I guess. Also, I did not check if their API is REST/SOAP and if they have a rate limt on an app/devel-key basis.

September 13 2006, 13:11:55 UTC 5 years ago

To get images based on their tags:

1) I don't think there's any way to match by relevance and get images. I want the best match for each interest.
2) Can't get images for things like "being alone", "world peace" which is quite common in lj-interests.
3) I think I'll face other problems because of flickr's ToS.

And welcome back, btw

Pardon the drive-by comment, but you're an order of magnitude off on how many people died on 9/11/2001. The site you linked to says "About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes." Note that's 24,000 not 240,000.

Just your friendly neighborhood fact checker :)

[info]ga_woo

September 14 2006, 05:53:02 UTC 5 years ago

Fixed. I wondered about that too. 240,000 did look a lot higher than the last time I checked the hunger-death stats.

Yahoo's rate-limiting is per IP and not per developer token, unlike Google.
